Growing up, I loved sewing and being crafty. My mom was very crafty. I remember her teaching basket classes at our church when we were little. She also sews and has done many do-it-yourself projects around the house. She reminds me of the Proverbs 31 woman in that regard. Verse 22:
“She makes coverings for herself and her clothing is fine linen and purple.”
When it talks about making coverings for herself it’s not referring to her clothing but her home furnishings. She lovingly furnished her dwelling place to make it a home. My mom is very gifted with decorating, being creative and making their house a home. I’ll have to post pictures of her recent project…their master bedroom and bath…gorgeous!
My mom’s interest in sewing and being crafty definitely rubbed off on me. I’ve made many pillows, partly re-upholstered a chair (I took the chair apart but then got frustrated and we took at an actual upholstery place and they finished it off for me), painted lots of various things, made lots of skirts, pajama pants, and recently dresses (stay tuned for more of that) in my day. There is so much satisfaction in knowing that YOU created something.
Here is a little pillow I made not too long ago:
Love it! Super easy and super cute! I don’t have a tutorial but I might make one up if you all are interested! I love the white crisp fabric on my raspberry colored chair.
This is the chair that I partly re-upholstered. I picked out the fabric when I was in college and I absolutely adore it. I still have to re-finish the arms of the chair. I’ll do it one of these days!
That’s it for now…more to come later!
